
Men's Tennis Team, Seven Wolverines Earn ITA Academic Honors

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team has been honored as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team, it was announced Monday (July 12). In addition, Nick Beaty, Harrison Brown, Ryan Fu, Connor Johnston, Kristofer Siimar, Mattias Siimar and Jonny Yaffe each earned individual distinctions.
Seven honorees is an program high for the Wolverines, who finished the season with a trip to the NCAA Tournament and as Big Ten East Division Champion with a 15-5 overall record and a 14-2 conference mark.
The Siimar twins are three-time recipients, while Beaty and Johnson captured ITA honors for the second straight season. Brown, Fu nad Yaffe earned the honors for the first time in their Michigan careers.
All six athletes were on the Big Ten Spring Academic Honor Roll, while Beaty and the Siimars also were Big Ten Distinguished Scholars.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.2 or better (on a 4.0 scale). All varsity letterwinners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must have a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year.
