ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Seven members of the University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team will attempt to qualify for the NCAA Championships at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships, Thursday through Saturday (March 12-14) at the Lancaster Aquatic Center in Lexington, Kentucky. The NCAA Championships will be held March 18-21 in Athens, Georgia.
The divers heading to Lexington include Nikki Canale, Lauren Cheetham, Christy Cutshaw, Lucy Hogan, Allie Klein, Camryn McPherson and Paige Sundermann. The women will compete on one-meter Thursday (1 p.m.), three-meter Friday (1 p.m.) and platform Saturday (11 a.m.).
NCAA Championships Qualifying Procedures
The top five female and top four male divers from each event at their respective zone diving meet will be eligible to compete at the NCAA Championships. Additional place finishers in each event at each zone will be eligible based on the number of student-athletes from that zone who finished in the top 16 in that event at the previous year's NCAA Championships. All eligible divers must have achieved the zone qualifying score prior to the NCAA Championships in all events they wish to participate.
For the women, in total, Zone C is allotted seven spots on one-meter, six spots on three-meter and 10 spots on platform.
Any diver that is eligible to compete as noted above will be allowed to optionally enter any other event(s) at the championships, provided that the diver finished in the top 12 at the same zone meet and has achieved the zone qualifying score for that event prior to the NCAA Championships.

Quick Hits
• The Wolverines have sent at least two divers to each of the last four NCAA Championships. Christy Cutshaw is a two-time qualifier (2018-19), while Nikki Canale (2018) and Camryn McPherson (2019) each have qualified once.
• Under the direction of Mike Hilde, four divers have scored points and earned All-America or All-America Honorable Mention status at the NCAA Championships since 2015: Carey Chen in 2015 (8th on platform), Kristen Hayden in 2017 (11th on platform), Allie Murphy in 2017 (11th on 3M) and Christy Cutshaw (10th on platform in 2018).
• The divers had a great week at the Big Ten Championships, accumulating 195 points -- the third-best of any team. U-M had finalists in each of the three diving events for the first time since 2014. Nikki Canale made finals on both one-meter and three-meter, becoming the first Michigan diver to accomplish that feat in four years (Sarah Kamstra, 2016), while Christy Cutshaw was the team's first finalist on tower in six years (Carey Chen, 2014).
• Three of the team's four freshmen divers will compete at their first NCAA Zone Diving Championship. During the season, Lucy Hogan achieved qualifying scores in all three events. Lauren Cheetham got her scores on the springboard events, while Paige Sundermann got hers on platform only.
