The No. 13-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team (6-1) will head east to take on a pair of Ivy League opponents this weekend. The Wolverines will first stop in Ithaca, New York, on Saturday (Feb. 8) for an 11 a.m. match with Cornell (3-0). On Sunday (Feb. 8) Michigan will face its third ranked opponent of the season when they take on No. 9 Columbia (3-0) at 11 a.m.
About the Opponents
Cornell is 3-0 on the season, with 7-0 wins against Binghamton, Michigan State and Colgate -- all at home at Reis Tennis Center.
Columbia is ranked No. 9 in the latest ITA national poll with a 3-0 record. The Lions opened with wins over No. 14 Oklahoma State and No. 16 Tennessee to win their ITA Kick-Off. This past Sunday, they dispatched South Florida, 7-0. Columbia has three players ranked in singles (No. 20 Jack Lin, No. 99 Alex Kotzenand and No. 109 Jackie Tang) and the No. 5-ranked doubles pair of Tang and Lin.
Series Histories
Michigan holds a 6-3-2 record in the all-time series with Cornell. The teams have played three times this century, in 2005, 2016 and 2017 -- all Michigan victories.
Michigan is 3-1 all-time versus Columbia, with the last match a 5-2 decision in 2017. Columbia's only win in the series was a 6-1 victory in 2014.

• Michigan moved up three places to No. 13 in the Oracle ITA poll this week after a 2-0 weekend.
• The Wolverines defeated No. 8 TCU and Western Michigan on Saturday. The win over TCU was Michigan's first over a top-10 team since February 26, 2011.
• Michigan is 6-1 on the season and on a five-match win streak.
• Andrew Fenty was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week on Feb. 4 as he posted a 4-0 week. He and doubles partner Mattias Siimar earned a win at No. 1 doubles over TCU's No. 29-ranked pair of Alastair Gray and Jacob Fearnley. In singles, Fenty dispatched No. 51-ranked Gray in straight sets. Later that night, he earned a win at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles. Fenty has claimed two of the Big Ten's three Athlete of the Week honors this season.
• No. 48-ranked Fenty is 4-3 in his dual matches this spring
• Fenty and Siimar are undefeated in doubles action with a 6-0 record at No. 1. Including the fall season, the pair has won its last 10 doubles matches. They moved up one spot to No. 4 in the doubles rankings.
• Siimar is unbeaten in singles, winning his last seven matches. He is 4-0 at No. 2 and 3-0 at No. 3.
• Nick Beaty is also 7-0 in singles play, having played at Nos. 4, 5 and 6.
• No. 43 Ondrej Styler is 4-2 on the spring season and has won his last two singles matches, playing at No. 2 and No. 3.
