First Chance Graduates
In two of the last three years, swimmers who have raced at First Chance have gone on to swim at the Big Ten Championships. In 2019, Mason Hunter swam the 100-yard breaststroke in 52.77 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 1:55.19, then the eighth- and 10th-fastest times in school history, respectively. He went on to finish 11th in the 200-yard breaststroke and 13th in the 100-yard breaststroke at the Big Ten Championships. AJ Bornstein also made the Big Ten Championships roster after going 1:56.69 in the 200-yard breaststroke at First Chance.
In 2017, Rob Zofchak and Alex Martin, now senior captains, both competed at First Chance as freshmen. Zofchak put up three times that ranked among the top 10 in the Big Ten, while Martin posted one. Zofchak made it to the Big Ten Championships and scored points in all three of his individual events, finishing tied for 12th in the 200-yard backstroke, 19th in the 100-yard backstroke and 21st in the 200-yard IM.
