ANN ARBOR -- Head coaches Jerry Clayton and James Henry announced Thursday (Sept. 12) the 2020 schedules for the University of Michigan men's and women's track and field teams, including five regular-season home meets at the program's state-of-the-art facilities.
The Wolverines will host four competitions at the world-class U-M Indoor Track Building during the winter indoor track and field season, with an additional home meet at the U-M Outdoor Track & Field Stadium during the spring outdoor campaign.
Michigan's opponents for the home meets will be announced at a later date.
January will be a busy month in Ann Arbor as Michigan hosts both the Wolverine Invitational (Jan. 11) and the Simmons-Harvey Invitational (Jan. 18) on back-to-back weekends to kick off the 2020 season, followed by the two-day Power Five Invitational (Jan. 31-Feb. 1).
Competition returns to the U-M Indoor Track Building one final time in 2020 with the Silverston Invitational on Feb. 21.
All four meets will be run on the Wolverines' hydraulically-banked 200-meter track -- one of fewer than 10 housed on college campuses anywhere in America -- in front of bleachers with permanent seating capacity of 2,000 spectators.
Those four home indoor meets are a significant portion of the winter-long buildup to the Big Ten Indoor Championships (Feb. 28-29) in Geneva, Ohio, and the NCAA Indoor Championships (March 13-14) in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Along the way, Michigan also will compete at other high-profile regular-season competitions at Kentucky and Boston University (Jan. 24-25), Notre Dame (Feb. 7-8), and Iowa State, Clemson and/or Arkansas (Feb. 14-15).
Outdoors, Michigan's home meet -- the Len Paddock Open -- will take place May 9, the week prior to the start of the spring postseason.
The Len Paddock Open will serve as a springboard into the Big Ten Championships (May 15-17) in Madison, Wisconsin, the NCAA East Preliminaries (May 28-30) in Lexington, Kentucky, and the NCAA Outdoor Championships (June 10-13) in Austin, Texas.
The regular season will feature dates at Florida State and North Carolina State (March 27-28); Stanford (April 2-4 and May 1-2); Louisville (April 10-11) and the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays (April 16-18).
