ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 11-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team (12-3, 2-1 B1G) will have two Big Ten Conference matches and a non-conference contest this weekend. U-M will face Indiana (8-9, 1-2 B1G) on Saturday, Purdue (8-9, 0-2 B1G) in the first of two Sunday matches and will finish with Cleveland State (10-8). The Wolverines will play host in all three matchups at the Varsity Tennis Center.
• The Maize and Blue saw its nine-match win streak come to an end this past weekend (March 25) in a 6-1 loss at the hands of No. 2 Ohio State. All of the Wolverines losses this season have been to teams currently ranked in the top 10 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
• Indiana enters the weekend having lost four consecutive matches. The Hoosiers will visit Michigan State on Friday hoping to break the streak before Saturday's matchup with the Maize and Blue.
• Saturday marks the 84th meeting between Michigan and Indiana in men's tennis. The Wolverines hold a 66-16-1 edge in the all-time series. U-M claimed a 7-0 victory in last season's contest.
• Purdue is just 1-6 in matches played away from home this season. Michigan, conversely, is 6-1 at home. The Wolverines are looking to improve on their already dominant 72-10 record in the all-time series. The Boilermakers last victory over the Maize and Blue came on April 17, 2004.
• Unlike the other teams that Michigan will face this weekend, Purdue does have players in the rankings. Redshirt-senior Gergely Madarasz is currently No. 79 in singles, while he and his partner, sophomore Athell Bennett, are No. 57 in doubles.
• Cleveland State, while 8-1 at home, is just 2-7 in road contests this season. This match against the Wolverines will be just the second time in history that the two programs have faced each other. Michigan was able to pull out a 4-3 win in 2015.
• All the notable individual win streaks for Michigan came to a halt this past weekend. Junior Myles Schalet was defeated (7-5, 6-4) by Penn State's Christos Antonopoulos, but bounced back with a win over No. 42 Kyle Seelig (Ohio State) in a tiebreaker. Before losing to No. 78 John McNally of Ohio State, senior Carter Lin had extended his personal streak to 10 consecutive matches.
• U-M possesses the second-best overall record in the Big Ten Conference at 12-3, second only to Ohio State (16-2). The Buckeyes are joined atop the conference standings by Illinois and Minnesota, which all are 3-0 in the early stages of conference play. The Wolverines' 2-1 conference record has them tied for fourth with Wisconsin.
