ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (5-3) returns to Crisler Center on Thursday (Dec. 6), when it will host LIU Brooklyn (0-7) as part of 60s night. Fans can get a ticket, hot dog and drink for $6 as part of the season-long Workweek Hustle promotion, with free youth admission (18-and-under) to the game.
• Through eight games this season, Michigan's strength of schedule is No. 22 in the country. That leads the Big Ten, with Ohio State (40) and Penn State (51) behind the Maize and Blue. U-M's RPI is 20 after eight games, second only to Minnesota (16) in the conference.
• Michigan faced its fourth ranked opponent of the season last Sunday (Dec. 2) in No. 22 Marquette. U-M has a win over then-No. 21 Missouri before falling to No. 10 Texas, No. 13 NC State and No. 22 Marquette, with all four games taking place away from Crisler Center. It is the first time since the 2010-11 season that Michigan has faced four ranked opponents during the non-conference portion of its season. U-M squared off against No. 5 Xavier, No. 8 Texas A&M, No. 19 Iowa State and No. 24 Boston College during that campaign. Michigan leads the Big Ten in ranked opponents faced at four. Iowa and Purdue are second in the league, both having faced two ranked teams.
• Sophomore Priscilla Smeenge turned in the best game of her career in Michigan's contest at Marquette (Dec. 2), scoring in double figures for the first time. Smeenge scored 12 points on 5-for-7 shooting, while also recording two assists and a rebound. She led Michigan's effort in the fourth quarter, helping U-M outscore the Golden Eagles, 26-11. Smeenge turned in 10 straight points, hitting a pair of layups followed by a pair of triples. She tied for the team high in scoring, marking the first time in her career she has done so.
• The Blackbirds (0-7) are winless on the season and have not played a game since dropping a 69-64 decision to UMass Lowell on Nov. 29. LIU Brooklyn features a pair of double-figure scorers in Brandy Thomas (14.3 ppg) and Jeydah Johnson (13.9 ppg). The Blackbirds are averaging 55.3 points per game on 34.2 percent shooting and allowing 70.4 points per game on 42.7 percent shooting. Michigan leads the all-time series against LIU Brooklyn, 1-0, after last season's win in New York.
• U-M has been solid from behind the three-point line in the last three games, making 22 triples on 43.1 percent shooting. Michigan has shot better than 40 percent from downtown the last three games after not reaching the mark in the first five games. U-M has made more three-pointers (22) in the last three games than it did in the first five (21).
