Notes
• Michigan is competing at the UGA Fall Invitational for the third consecutive year. The Wolverines won the title in 2017 and were fourth in 2016. Last year, U-M achieved 67 NCAA A or B cuts and three NCAA Zone Diving qualifying scores.
• U-M jumped to No. 2 in the latest CSCAA/TYR Top 25 poll, released on Nov. 14. The next poll will be released on Dec. 5. [ Poll ]
• Senior Siobhán Haughey is off to a fantastic start. Ahead of the midseason meet, she ranks first nationally in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.63), third in the 100-yard freestyle (47.09) and is tied for eighth in the 50-yard freestyle (22.12).
• Freshman Maggie MacNeil heads to Georgia looking to lower her nation-best time in the 100-yard butterfly. Her time of 50.09, set back on Nov. 10 at the Big Ten/ACC Swimming and Diving Challenge in West Lafayette, Ind., was a Big Ten record and U-M record. According to SwimSwam, that time makes MacNeil the sixth-fastest woman to swim the 100-yard butterfly (in short course yards). Only three swimmers in history have broken the 50-second barrier: Louisville alum Kelsi Dahlia (49.43), USC's Louise Hansson (49.80) and Tennessee's Erika Brown (49.84).
• The diving group, led by coach Mike Hilde, looks to be the deepest in years. Sophomores Nikki Canale and Christy Cutshaw -- both NCAA Championships qualifiers last year -- already have their NCAA Zone Diving cuts in all three disciplines. Freshman Allie Klein also has her ticket punched, receiving a qualifying score on one-meter. In total, six divers have competed in the first half of the season and that number will grow to seven when sophomore Ohio State transfer Camryn McPherson becomes eligible for the second semester.
