DEXTER, Mich. -- Competitors from the No. 7 University of Michigan women's cross country team wrapped up the 2018 regular-season schedule on Friday (Oct. 19) at the Eastern Michigan Fall Classic.
With the team's top squad resting ahead of its attempt to win back-to-back-to-back Big Ten titles next weekend (Oct. 28) in Lincoln, Nebraska, nine Wolverines competed in uniform Friday against runners from the likes of Michigan State, Eastern Michigan and other teams around the region.
With five of the top-10 individual runners in the race -- and the top five runners who were eligible for team scoring by representing an institution in uniform -- the Wolverines won the team title over Michigan State, 15-42.
Redshirt senior Rachel Coleman was the first in-uniform Wolverine across the line on the five-kilometer (3.11-mile) course at Hudson Mills Metropark north of Dexter, Michigan, crossing the line in 17:32.2.
She was followed closely by sixth-place redshirt junior Faith Reynolds (17:38.4), seventh-place redshirt freshman Raquel Powers (17:43.8), ninth-place redshirt sophomore Jena Metwalli (17:50.3) and 10th-place redshirt junior Audrey Belf (17:59.6).

Up Next for Michigan
With the regular season now completely in the rearview mirror, the Wolverine women are now setting their sights on the Big Ten Championships on Oct. 28 in Lincoln, Nebraska, as they look to claim their third consecutive Big Ten team title and their fourth in the past five seasons.
The women's championship race will begin at 10:45 a.m. CDT over the six-kilometer (3.73-mile) course at Mahoney Golf Course. The men's championship race, featuring the defending champion Michigan men, is set for 11:45 a.m. CDT.
As the two-time defending conference champion and the top-ranked team from the conference in the latest USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll, Michigan will enter as the team to beat. With the conference shaping up to be one of the most competitive in the country, however, Michigan is not a clear favorite.
Not since 2006 has this conference meet been so top-heavy with national contenders, with five Big Ten teams ranked top-15 nationally and another ranked top-25. In addition to the No. 7 Wolverines, the field will also include No. 10 Indiana, No. 11 Wisconsin, No. 13 Penn State, No. 14 Michigan State and No. 21 Minnesota.
Individually, FloTrack has top U-M runner Avery Evenson is ranked No. 15 in its "Top 255 Individual Rankings" published after the Pre-National Invitational last weekend. Among all Big Ten runners, she is ranked third.
