BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The No. 18-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team clinched all points in a 7-0 triumph over Indiana on Friday evening (March 31) at the IU Tennis Center.
The Wolverines claimed the doubles point after victories on courts two and three. The duo No. 66-ranked duo of Runhao Hua and Alex Knight picked up the first U-M win at No. 2 doubles, 6-2, while Myles Schalet and Kevin Wong clinched the first point of the match with a 6-4 win at No. 3.
In singles play, a victory on court six by Davis Crocker in straight-sets earned the Maize and Blue the second point, 6-4, 6-2, while the third point came at No. 3 with a 7-5, 6-1 win by No. 74 Schalet.
Michigan was put on the brink of clinching the match with a 7-5, 6-3 victory by Knight at court two, which was followed up by the match-clinching win by Hua at No. 4, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.
The Wolverines also picked up wins on courts one and five by No. 91 Jathan Malik (6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 6-4) and Carter Lin (7-6 (8-6), 5-7, 10-7).
Michigan will be back in action on Sunday (April 2) as it wraps up its Indiana swing at Purdue. Match is scheduled for noon.
