
Michigan to Welcome Kent State for Sunday Matinee

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 24-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (7-2) continues its homestand on Sunday (Dec. 10), when they play host to Kent State (6-4) for the second straight season at Crisler Center. Tip is set for 2 p.m. and the first 250 fans in attendance will receive a Michigan holiday ornament.
• Michigan has enjoyed the month of December so far, going 3-0 with wins at LIU Brooklyn (Dec. 2), at Detroit Mercy (Dec. 4) and a big home win against Marquette (Dec. 7). Since the month began, U-M has reached the 80-point mark in each of its three games. The Maize and Blue is averaging 84.7 points per game on 51.8 percent shooting from the field while holding opponents to 58.3 points on 35.3 percent shooting. The Wolverines have four players scoring in double figures in Katelynn Flaherty (23.0), Hallie Thome (15.7), Nicole Munger (13.0) and Deja Church (12.0) in December.
• Michigan has found its shooting touch in its last three games, shooting more than 50 percent twice. It was the first time this season that U-M cracked 50 percent, raising its season field-goal percentage to .463. Michigan is now up to second in the Big Ten and 27th nationally in field-goal percentage.
• Junior Hallie Thome has continued to have a dominant presence in the paint this season, averaging 17.1 points per game on 65.2 percent shooting -- the eighth-best mark in the country. She is also grabbing 6.2 rebounds in 30.3 minutes per game. Thome has two double-doubles on the season already after going for 17 points and 13 rebounds at Ohio (Nov. 25). She is Michigan's career leader in field-goal percentage (.625), which is second among active players nationally.
• Senior Jillian Dunston has continued to do it all for the Wolverines, averaging a team-high 9.7 rebounds, 2.9 points and 3.3 assists per game. She has five games this season with at least 10 rebounds, including a 14-board performance against Marquette (Dec. 7). She is 13th in program history with 652 rebounds. Dunston is 38 rebounds away from passing Cyesha Goree (690) to move into 12th place. Dunston also recorded the third career game with at least five steals after swiping five against Louisville (Nov. 16). She has 121 for her career, putting her in a tie for 24th in program history.
• Under head coach Kim Barnes Arico, U-M is 44-5 when scoring at least 80 points. Michigan has reached that mark in each of its last three games.
• Kent State (6-4) is coming off a 72-60 loss at Wright State on Thursday (Dec. 7). The Golden Flashes average 64.5 points per game on 40.3 percent shooting while allowing 65.2 points per game. KSU features a pair of double-figure scorers in Jodan Korinek (19.8 ppg) and McKenna Stephens (10.3 ppg). U-M defeated Kent State in last season's WNIT, 67-60, and leads the all-time series, 4-0.
