ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- A little more than 12 hours after winning the Big Ten Championship, seven members of the No. 3-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team were back in the water at the Michigan Long Course Time Trial on Sunday (Feb. 21) at Canham Natatorium. The USA Swimming-sanctioned meet provided swimmers an opportunity to get U.S. Olympic Trials cuts, and did not have any implications on the NCAA Championships.
Of the seven swimmers, freshman Catie DeLoof was the only one to make a cut, hitting the exact time in the 100-meter backstroke (1:03.39).
Other swimmers in action included sophomore Samantha Yeo in the 200-meter IM (2:22.30), junior Maddy Frost in the 50-meter freestyle (26.56), freshman Becca Postoll in the 200-meter freestyle (2:05.42), junior Celia Keany in the 200-meter freestyle (2:10.25), junior Madison Horton in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:14.51) and freshman Astrid Swensen in the 200-meter butterfly (2:15.69).
Select swimmers will have one final chance to improve their season-best times at the Michigan Last Chance Meet next Sunday (Feb. 28) at Canham Natatorium. The start time of the meet has not been announced. The psych sheet for the NCAA Championships will be announced on Wednesday, March 2.
