
Farley and Townsend Sign NLIs with Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's gymnastics team received signed National Letters of Intent from Lauren Farley (Dallas, Texas) and Syd Townsend (Conestogo, Ontario) on Wednesday (Nov. 9).
"We are really exciting about these two young ladies," said Michigan head coach Bev Plocki. "Both are really excited to become Wolverines. They have been coming to meets for years and have generated relationships with our team so it will hopefully be an easy transition to our program. They are passionate about gymnastics and have lots of energy and enthusiasm."

Attends Spring Creek Academy in Plano, Texas
Competes for WOGA Gymnastics
Invited to exhibition uneven bars at the Kellogg's Tour of Gymnastics Champions
Competed at the Elite level in 2013-14, winning the WOGA Elite Qualifier
Qualified for the P&G Championships and competed at the American Classic, US Secret Classic and Elite Gym Massilia (Marseille, France) in 2013-14
Four Texas state championships, winning the all-around and uneven bars in 2014-15 and bars and balance beam in 2015-16
J.O. National Champion on bars in 2014-15 and was a J.O. National Team member
Won the Region 3 beam title in 2014-15
Plocki on Farley: "Lauren is from an internationally well-known club. She is another high-level athlete to come from that gym. She was an elite level gymnast. She is a very good all-around gymnast who was a member of the 2015 J.O. National Team. We are really excited about what she will be able to contribute to all four events."

Competes for the Canadian National Team and Milton Springers
Member of the Senior National Team each of the last two years
Part of Team Canada's sixth-place finish at the 2015 World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland
Placed third at the 2015 City of Jesolo Trophy meet in Italy
Finished 12th in the all-around at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China
Led Canada to a gold medal at the 2014 Junior Pan American Championships
Fifth in the all-around at the 2014 Canadian National Championships
Plocki on Townsend: "Sid has been a member of the Canadian National Team since 2011 and has an incredible amount of international experience. She is also going to be a very high level athlete for us on all four events."
