
Petrone Bows Out of ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. -- Senior Alex Petrone (Staten Island, N.Y./Laurel Springs Prep) of the University of Michigan men's tennis team concluded singles play at the ITA All-American Championships on Monday (Sept. 29), dropping a tightly-contested 4-6, 6-2, 6-7 (5) decision to Duke's Raphael Hemmele in the first round of the qualifying men's singles draw held at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Through two fall tournaments, Petrone holds a 2-2 singles record and is 2-1 in doubles action with senior Michael Zhu (Princeton, N.J./Keystone National).
The Wolverines will return to competition in two weeks when they host the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, scheduled for Oct. 16-20, at the Varsity Tennis Center.
