Michigan has won its first two matches of the season in each of the last nine seasons.
Michigan and Tennessee State played for the first time in school history in today's match.
Junior Lindsey Lerg tied a career high with 16 digs in the Tennessee State win. Lerg also had 16 digs in the 2012 national semifinal match against Texas.
Sophomore Abby Cole recorded her 15th career double-digit kill performance. It also was her third straight match with double digits in kills dating back to last season.
Junior Krystalyn Goode led the team in blocks for the 30th time in her career.
Senior/junior Olivia Reed made her first start of the season. Reed had two blocks and three digs in the win.
