ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Senior Shannon Smith was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll on Monday (Dec. 8) after going for 26 points, a career-best 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals in the University of Michigan women's basketball win over Wake Forest on Wednesday (Dec. 3).
Smith was named to the Honor Roll for the first time in her career after helping the Wolverines to an 83-69 win over Wake Forest in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The senior scored 26 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the field and a 6-for-8 showing from the free throw line. She also chipped in six assists and three steals in 36 minutes of action.
For the season, Smith is Michigan's second-leading scorer at 13.9 points per game while ranking first in assists (34) and steals (13). She is also averaging 6.3 rebounds per game, ranking third behind seniors Cyesha Goree (10.4) and Nicole Elmblad (6.4).
