Former Runner Brannen Secures Spot on Canadian Olympic Team

CALGARY, Canada -- Former Wolverine Nate Brannen (2002-05) secured a spot on the 2012 Canadian Olympic Team with his win in the 1,500-meter run on Friday (June 29) at Foothills Athletic Park. Brannen clocked a 3:49.22.
Fellow Canadian Andrew Ellerton (2003-05) took first in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:49.28 to automatically qualify for the finals, which will take place on Saturday (June 30) at 3:25 p.m. MDT.
Meanwhile, at the U.S. Olympic Trials at Oregon's Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., Jeff Porter (2004-07) finished second in his heat and eighth overall in the 110-meter hurdle qualifying round in a time of 13.35. He will now compete in the semifinals on Saturday (June 30) at 4:20 p.m. PDT. The finals will be later that day at 6:40 p.m. PDT.
