• The shutout win was the first for the Wolverines since a 3-0 win in the first game of a doubleheader over Illinois on April 17, 2011, in Fisher Stadium.
• With Friday's 4-0 win over Michigan State, Wolverine head coach Rich Maloney is 5-5 in his 10 Big Ten home openers. Maloney is 6-4 in conference openers and he is 5-5 in Big Ten openers at home and on the road.
• Freshman SS Dylan Delaney, who is hitting .189 (18-for-95), was 2-for-4 and his first-inning home run proved to be his first game-winning RBI as a Wolverine. Delaney, making only his second start as the number two man in U-M's lineup, has three multi-hit games this season.
• Senior RHP Brandon Sinnery (2-3, 4.30 ERA) allowed nine hits with five strikeouts and one walk in 8.1 innings of scoreless work. The win is Sinnery's 10th as a Wolverine.
• The shutout is the first U-M shutout since Sinnery tossed a four-hit complete game win vs. Illinois on April 17, 2011. Sinnery had nine strikeouts in that win.
• Freshman RHP Matt Ogden (1-2, 3.50 ERA, three saves) faced one batter and collected a game-ending double-play grounder. Ogden, who leads the team with 11 pitching appearances, leads the Wolverines with three saves.
• Junior co-captain CF/2B Patrick Biondi, who is leading the team in hitting at .333 (37-for-111), was 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, a stolen base and one RBI. The homer was the first of the season for Biondi and the third of his Wolverine career.
• Biondi, who has reached base in the past 15 games, has hits in 12 of his last 13 games.
• Biondi, who has 11 multi-hit games this season and 50 for his U-M career, has scored a team-leading 30 runs this season and has scored 135 times in 141 games in his Wolverine career.
• Biondi, who leads the Wolverines with 19 stolen bases, collected his 75th career steal to snap the tie for second place on U-M's career stolen-base list with former Wolverine LF Jim Durham (74 steals, 1986-89). The record is 90 stolen bases set by CF Eric Rose (2004-07).
• Senior catcher/1B/DH Coley Crank, who is hitting .202 (20-for-99), was 1-for-4 with a run-scoring double. Crank has five doubles this season and 41 in 175 games in his U-M career.
• Crank has 22 RBI this season and 130 in his U-M career.
