Michigan improved to 72-49-5 all-time against Notre Dame and has earned a 3-1-0 record in the last four meetings with the Irish.
The Wolverines have posted an 8-1-2 record in their last 11 games since a 1-0 OT win at Alaska on Dec. 3.
Alex Guptill netted his team-leading 14th goal of the season midway through the first period of tonight's game. Guptill extended his point-scoring streak to a career-high six games (5g, 5a) and leads the team with four power play goals. The freshman forward ranks first in the nation among rookies in points (26) and goals (14).
A.J. Treais talled his second power-play goal of the year with less than 30 seconds remaining in the opening frame. The goal was Treais' ninth of the season, tying his career-high total from a season ago.
Greg Pateryn and Chris Brown each earned assists on Guptill's first-period goal. Pateryn now has helpers in back-to-back games and Brown has posted eight points (3g, 5a) in his last six outings.
Michigan has now scored power-play goals in back-to-back contests for the fifth time this season and multiple man-advantage tallies in one game for the fifth time in 2011-12.
Phil Di Giuseppe registered an assist on the Treais goal; his first point in seven games. Di Giuseppe has posted 16 points (8g, 8a) in 27 games during his first collegiate season. He ranks tied for fifth on the Michigan squad in goals this season.
