Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On the success of the penalty kill lately ... "I think it's a little bit of everything. It's our team starting to figure it out and paying the price. Little things; whether its faceoffs or confidence or chemistry. We're doing a better job now. And it's the goalie. Your goalie has to make a save on the penalty kill, which he did tonight."
On the importance of getting a win heading into the bye week ... "I think it's good. Let's face it; we've had a good stretch of games since Alaska. It's good to bounce back tonight and not lose two in a row. Now we can think about the stretch run. It's good for our team's psyche."
U-M Goaltender Shawn Hunwick
On the penalty-kill effort tonight ... "They (Notre Dame) were moving the puck around pretty well. That line they have with (T.J.) Tynan and Anders Lee; they were all over the ice. It feels like they have six guys out there. We were hanging on there at the end and we were able to block a few shots."
U-M Forward Alex Guptill
On his goal ... "I was just trying to get my stick out there. I got a little lucky and was able to put a backhand tip on it. Credit to (Greg) Pateryn for shooting the puck. I think that's two this weekend and that kind of got the power play going."
On Shawn Hunwick's play tonight ... "We tried to protect him a little better tonight. All the credit goes to him. He's getting run and he's still making a ton of saves. He played a great game tonight and we don't win that game tonight without (Shawn) Hunwick."
