Hello everyone!
This weekend we had a two-game homestand against Minnesota and Wisconsin. After a tough loss to a gritty Minnesota team, we bounced back with a scoreless tie to Wisconsin, one of the top teams in the Big Ten. The game truly was a battle and fans were treated to plenty of aggressive play. Though it ended with a tie, we hope to continue the momentum we started playing with in that game, as we travel to Iowa and Nebraska this weekend.
Perhaps the most exciting news for our team this weekend was the addition of Emily Jaffe to our roster. After playing at Iowa, transferring home, and then playing on the club team for a year, Emily has joined our team. Let me tell you, she definitely belongs! She has already made an immediate impact on our midfield and she is undoubtedly looking forward to the hundreds of ice baths that will be endured over the course of the season.
I also realize at the beginning of this year I forgot to introduce everyone to our student trainer, Scotty. He is Tina's protégé for the season and despite what his name may suggest, Scotty does know what he is doing. I'm sure everyone is familiar with the song "Scotty Doesn't Know" from the movie Eurotrip, and although we often sing this at him with our lovely voices, we have really enjoyed his company and he is a good trainer. I'm pretty sure he has enjoyed our company as well. While he has heard more girl chatter than he has ever desired, we'd like to think we are doing him a favor for when he gets married. You're welcome, Scotty!
Look out for our next Yellow Armband as team away trips always seem to produce some interesting stories.
Go Blue!
