Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's game ... "For us it was a good weekend overall. Bentley really played well, and they played hard. They gave us everything that we could handle and these games were both literally 2-1 games right into late in the third period. We were fortunate to get the go-ahead goal late, but still they got their goalie out so you can tell it was a close game. I'm just pleased that we kept the goals against down. That was the bottom line, because the puck was not going in at the other end easily. It was not going in until late, and goals were hard to come by. When you give up only two goals on the weekend, we have a good chance to win those games."
On U-M's third period scoring ... "I think we had a little bit of an advantage over Bentley. I say that only because, number one we are at home and in terms of endurance when you consider the weather and everything - I mean it is hot at ice level - and our guys have played three games. I think we probably have a little edge in game conditioning and that may have been a factor in both third periods. I thought we had the upper hand in the third period."
On overall play of Phil Di Giuseppe... "I think he played a little simpler and not as cute. Last night he was not skating and he was over-handling the puck. We were just after him to use his speed and then he can make his move. If you are not skating nothing happens. His goals were tap-in goals for the one, and just being in the right place at the right time. But overall, he had a better game. When you play better you are probably going to have a better outcome. He is a strong kid; he has some good puck skills. It will be a matter of him getting use to his linemates and playing off of them well. He is off to a good start."
U-M Freshman Forward Phil Di Giuseppe
On the team's momentum after his two goals ... "It really pumped the team up a little bit, it was really nice to get that out of the way, but it's my linemates, they were the reason for those goals, I wouldn't have been able to score without them."
On his comfort level being three games into the season ... "I'm just trying to play intense, we've got a good group of guys here and just trying to stay in the lineup and play my hardest out there."
U-M Sophomore Forward Luke Moffatt
On the third period scoring ... "We've been conditioning pretty hard all spring and summer and I think right now it's just the fatigue factor. We were able to wear down the other team and by the third period, they just can't keep up with us."
On what the team will be working on in the practice over the next few days ... "Right now, just continue to work on special teams especially, and obviously D zone. We've got to help out [Shawn] Hunwick a little more; he's been standing on his head the last couple of games and we just don't need that. Just the basics. Just get down to the details."
On the momentum from the waved off goal in the second period ... "That was a really big momentum switch, it ended up we were on a power play there and we were able to get that power play goal and it boosted up the whole bench, and gave us a lot of momentum after that."
