• Michigan suffered its first loss of the season tonight after starting the year with four straight wins ... It marked the best start for the Wolverines since the 2005-06 season,
• U-M now owns a 35-19-5 all-time record against the Wildcats, including a 12-7-3 mark on the road ... The loss snapped a four-game winning streak against Northern Michigan.
• Lindsay Sparks extended his point-scoring streak to three games with a goal and an assists in tonight's contest ... Sparks has tallied four points (2g, 2a) during his current streak.
• Zach Hyman posted the first goal of his collegiate career at the 13:08 mark of the third period ... It was Hyman's third point (1g, 2a) of the season.
• Goaltender Shawn Hunwick made the start for Michigan and turned aside 17 shots in 30:38 of action ... Hunwick was assessed with a five-minute major for contact to the head and a game misconduct at the 10:45 mark of the second period.
• Forward Luke Moffatt was ejected after receiving a fighting major and a game disqualification ... Moffatt will be ineligible for Michigan's game tomorrow night (Saturday, Oct. 22) at Northern Michigan.
• Adam Janecyk made 10 saves on 14 shots in 28:33 of relief duty ... Tonight marked Janecyk's third appearance of the season and first decision of his career.
• Defenseman Mac Bennett led the Wolverines with five shots on goal.
• Michigan finished the game 0-for-6 on the power play while killing off 6-of-7 shorthanded opportunities.
