Michigan suffered its first loss of the season tonight after starting the year with four straight wins ... It marked the best start for the Wolverines since the 2005-06 season,
U-M now owns a 35-19-5 all-time record against the Wildcats, including a 12-7-3 mark on the road ... The loss snapped a four-game winning streak against Northern Michigan.
Lindsay Sparks extended his point-scoring streak to three games with a goal and an assists in tonight's contest ... Sparks has tallied four points (2g, 2a) during his current streak.
Zach Hyman posted the first goal of his collegiate career at the 13:08 mark of the third period ... It was Hyman's third point (1g, 2a) of the season.
Goaltender Shawn Hunwick made the start for Michigan and turned aside 17 shots in 30:38 of action ... Hunwick was assessed with a five-minute major for contact to the head and a game misconduct at the 10:45 mark of the second period.
Forward Luke Moffatt was ejected after receiving a fighting major and a game disqualification ... Moffatt will be ineligible for Michigan's game tomorrow night (Saturday, Oct. 22) at Northern Michigan.
Adam Janecyk made 10 saves on 14 shots in 28:33 of relief duty ... Tonight marked Janecyk's third appearance of the season and first decision of his career.
