
Bowden, Blacklaws Compete on Day Two of Alex Wilson Invite

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- University of Michigan men's track and field distance runners Dallas Bowden (Hastings, New Zealand/Nelson College) and Brendon Blacklaws (Wellington, New Zealand/Wellington College) competed on the second day of the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday (March 6), held at the Loftus Center.
Blacklaws took seventh in the 3,000-meter run (8:13.46), while Bowden finished ninth in the mile run with a season-best time of 4:03.72. Tri-captain Craig Forys (Howell, N.J./Colts Neck) was the other U-M runner in action at the Alex Wilson Invitational this weekend. He finished 23rd in the 5,000-meter run on Friday (March 5).
Thrower Sean Pruitt (Cato, Wis./Valders) is the only other U-M competitor in action this weekend. He is scheduled to throw the shot put and the 35-lb. weight at the Virginia Tech Final Qualifier today in Blacksburg, Va.
All four competitors attempted to receive NCAA qualifying marks ahead of next weekend's NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. As of Saturday afternoon, only three competitors held NCAA provisional qualifying marks: Pruitt in 35-lb. weight and shot put, Sean McNamara (Elmhurst, Ill./York) in the mile and Frank Shotwell (Medina, Ohio/Medina) in the heptathlon.
