Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's game ... "I thought our team played hard tonight from the get-go. We liked the way we started the game last night, but we did not like the way we finished. I thought we played three complete periods tonight even though the momentum went back and forth. I thought our team responded much better to it whether we were ahead or behind. We had to hang on at the end of the game and kill the penalties. But for the most part we stayed out of the penalty box all weekend."
On building momentum off back-to-back goals in the second period ... "The good thing is that when you're playing in the other team's zone good things can happen. It was bang, bang [the two goals] and all of a sudden we were in the driver's seat again. It was that kind of game. These games are good hockey games and you don't always win them. We expect to win every game, but we know that is not realistic. This was good competition and Notre Dame is a really good team. They play hard and they play well. Our team got up to their level."
On senior forward Carl Hagelin ... "He has been terrific. He has quickness, speed, confidence, and now power to go with it. He is making plays, he is a threat to score. He is having the kind of senior year that you want all your seniors to have."
U-M Senior Defenseman Chad Langlais
On his fluke goal ... "No, I don't know what happened. Everyone was looking the other way and it was an easy tap in for me. It was a lucky goal and it felt good."
On Michigan's "puck luck" ... "It's good to be lucky. I think that when you're working your hardest you're going to get some bounces your way. I think this was just a testament to how hard we worked all night."
On rebounding from Friday's loss ... "Just keep going. We knew it was going to be a tight game with them. It's always a tight game with them. You just play your game and you just keep working and the puck is going to go your way if you keep working."
U-M Senior Forward Matt Rust
On scoring ... "I've been playing pretty garbage this season; inflated confidence and just not getting the puck touches I've wanted. It's good to have Carl [Hagelin] back on my line. Obviously, he has sparked me before and he sparked me again tonight. Hopefully, I can carry this confidence into practice and keep producing."
On changing the team's mindset ... "We're trying to do all the right things on Friday. We're trying to come out strong and I think we did come out strong on Friday. I think we don't have the ticked-off attitude that you need to win on Friday night. I think on Saturday, after losing on Friday, we finally get that attitude, but on Friday we need to find a way to have it. I don't know if you guys can see the scores up top, but the league is tight this year. Everyone is beating everyone, so it's going to be close. You're going to need the attitude on Friday and Saturday."
