LAKE SUPERIOR STATE SERIES
Michigan improves to 18-22-3 against the Lakers in Sault Ste. Marie and 57-46-6 all-time against LSSU. The Wolverines have won nine straight matchups dating back to Feb. 18, 2007. U-M's longest winning streak in the series is 10 games, which took place from March 2002 through October 2004.
TEAM NOTES
Michigan potted three goals in both the first and third periods tonight, equaling a season high for the third and fourth times.
U-M had its fourth perfect game on the penalty kill this season by stopping five LSSU power plays.
U-M tied its season high by scoring a pair of power-play goals. Chris Brown and Ben Winnett each scored in the third period. U-M was 2-for-7 with the man-advantage for the game.
PLAYER NOTABLES
Matt Rust has a point in a career-best five straight games. He had a goal and an assist tonight to give him 4-4-8 totals during the run. Rust leads U-M in points (8) and is tied with Chris Brown for first in goals (4).
Chris Brown tied his career high with two goals tonight. He also had two tallies at Alaska-Anchorage on Oct. 10. The first of Brown's two tallies tonight proved to be his first career game-winning goal.
Ben Winnett registered the first multi-point and multi-goal game of his career with two tallies tonight.
Chris Summers has assists (4) in three straight games. The captain leads the team in assists (5) and U-M defensemen in points (0-5-5).
