Q U O T E S
U-M Sophomore Frank Shotwell -- Heptathlon Champion
On placing first at the Big Ten Conference Indoor Championships ... "It feels really good. I have come a long way since last year. Last year I know I didn't do pole vault. I had a chance to score but I didn't score in outdoors -- I had an injury that didn't let me score, but it really feels great."
On preparing for today ... "I really worked on my run a lot and it really paid off. Just working on a lot of technical work and getting my body in the right condition. The rest is on me; I just have to go out and be competitive and give it all I've got."
On goals for the rest of the season ... "I am really hoping to qualify for nationals. Coming into today, I was eighth on the list. I would just like to go to nationals and get the national experience and see what that's all about so that when I go back I can get ready for Big Ten Outdoors, which will be even better competition than this is."
U-M Junior Adam Harris -- 60- and 200-meter dash Champion
On being a Big Ten champion ... "It's nice. You know, it's been a lot of years where I'd get fourth, third and second -- it's nice to finally get gold."
On preparing for the Big Ten indoor championships ... "We just kind of tapered off a little bit, I actually didn't run the 60 that much this year, I think this was maybe my fourth time running it. I focused a lot of the 200 (meter dash), which actually didn't turn out too well in this meet ... but everything seemed to work out fine. The training, the lifting, it worked out perfectly."
On goals for nationals ... "Run faster than I ran today. I think that's always the goal for the next race."
