CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Rainy conditions led to the postponement of Michigan's first-ever NCAA Super Regional game scheduled for Saturday (June 9) at Coleman Field at Goss Stadium on the campus of Oregon State University.
The Wolverines (42-17) and the defending national champion Beavers of Oregon State (42-18) will now open the best-of-three series on Sunday (June 10) with the first pitch slated for 1:06 p.m. PDT and the game to be televised by ESPN.
Game two of the series will be played on Monday (June 11) with a start time of either 1:06 or 4:06 p.m. If a third game is needed it will be played Tuesday (June 12) with the game time TBA.
The winner of the Michigan vs. Oregon State series advances to the College World Series and will play either UCLA or Cal State-Fullerton in a game on Saturday (June 16).
Wolverine All-American Barry Larkin (1983-85) and veteran play-by-play announcer Gary Thorne, announcer for the Baltimore Orioles, are on hand this weekend to broadcast the games for the family of ESPN networks. Sunday's game is slated for ESPN, while Monday's game will be aired by either ESPN or ESPN2. The network for the potential game on Tuesday will be announced later.
The first team to earn a slot in the College World Series is Mississippi State, a team that Michigan defeated 4-3 on March 3. The MSU Bulldogs swept Clemson in the games played in Starkville, Miss.
