Cold Wipes Out PSU Series; Sunday DH Pushed Back

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- For the second straight day, cold weather prevented the University of Michigan softball team from taking the field for its home competition against Penn State on Saturday (April 7). The two-game series against the Nittany Lions was cancelled and will not be rescheduled.
The Wolverines (28-6, 1-1 Big Ten) will proceed with their Sunday (April 8) doubleheader against Ohio State at Alumni Field. The start time has been pushed back an hour to 1 p.m.
Michigan experienced a similar scenario two seasons ago, nearing the end of the 2005 Big Ten schedule, when cold conditions and snow wiped out an Ohio State doubleheader and shortened a two-game series vs. Penn State. U-M won out the remainder of its conference slate en route to the program's 10th Big Ten title.
The Wolverines lost one additional game to the weather earlier this season when rain forced a reworking of the Jacksonville University Tournament (March 2-4) schedule and eliminated a game vs. Notre Dame.
