Q U O T E S
Michigan Head Coach Kevin Borseth
On why the offense was so successful tonight... "We moved the ball. We had open looks and made them. Krista (Clement)hit a couple of deep ones. She practices a lot so its good to see that. When the ball is going into the basket, I am happy."
On the play of Carly Benson... "She played well. She has really struggled as of late but she got into a nice rhythm and played extremely well. I was happy for her because she has been working hard off the floor, trying to make something happen on the court. She took one to the basket, had a nice drive. She hit some nice shots in rhythm on the perimeter. I was happy she was able to string some things together because she works hard."
U-M Junior Jessica Minnfield
On the first half... "I think we executed well on offense. We cut to the basket, we set screens for each other and that got our offense moving."
On the confidence gained from strong play... "If we're making baskets, it gives us so much confidence and we're ready to score again."
On the pressure of being the ball-handler... "It is a lot of pressure but I get a lot of help from my teammates -- setting screens, coming to the open pass -- so I'm getting through it."
U-M Junior Carly Benson
On getting out of a slump... "It was good. There was a slump for a while. All you can do when you can't make a shot is play good defense, try to help your teammates out and make good passes. I think it was really helpful that we all shot well tonight."
On recovering from the long road stretch... "We were on a six-game road trip. That takes a lot out of you. You miss a lot of school. It felt like our first home game against Kentucky last night. It's good to be back in Crisler Arena with our fans and being in a comfortable environment."
On Coach Borseth's halftime message... "He basically said that we were making a lot of shots. We were making them and they were missing them. It could have easily flip-flopped so we had to make sure to play solid defense and get to the rim a lot more. We can't always rely on the three-point shot so we tried to get to the rim and the free throw line."
On whether she is having fun playing right now... "We're finally getting in a groove where we're comfortable playing together. We're being successful with what we're doing. There were streaks last year where we'd do well and then we'd come in the next game and have a lapse. We're just trying, no matter what happens, to keep building and building. We realize it's not going to be perfect."
