Megan Bowmanhas proven herself to be one of Michigan most imposing middle blockers of all time. Currently, she ranksseventh on the all-time list and is just four blocks out of sixth place and 24 out of third. Megan is not a vocal leader on the court, but leads by example, dominating the net and shutting down opposing attackers with her aggressive style.
Megan took some time out of her schedule to answer questions about learning from former All-American Leisa Rosen, playing with Erin Moore and Lyndsay Miller and how important the Michigan blocking record is to her.
On what the University of Michigan means to her...
It is my school andI take pride in attending and playing for it.
On whatshe focused on in the off-season...
I worked hard to be in good condition and to strengthen my shoulders. The season is a lot longer than it seems and I wanted to be ready for it.
On the best thing about a good block ...
You geta goodfeeling in the pit of your stomach and the excitement from your teammates is contagious.
On what makes a good blocker great ...
Quickness and seeing the ball.
On her experience playing with Erin Moore and Lyndsay Miller
Theyve complimented my game and have made our middle strong. It is great to have an awesome counterpart -- they play one half of the game and I play the other half.
On how Leisa Rosen's experience has helped her during her career ...
Her experience has really helped with my improvement at the middle blocker position. Its much easier taking and wanting advice from someone you respect so much. I look to her for the answers, whether or not I can achieve what she asks of me, thats my responsibility.
On the experience of playing for Team Volleyhut this summer in Italy ...
It was great to play with girls from other schools and a good experience for the off-season. The experience made my shoulder much stronger and allowed me to hit harder and faster than I could during the past few seasons since I have always been recovering from surgery.
On her biggest influences in life ...
My parents are a big influence because they have been there for me through the ups and downs, always supporting anything I ever want to do.
On beingseventh all-time at Michigan for blocks ...
Milestones and records dont really matter to me as long as were winning. But I would like to be first in that category by the end of my career.
