Loomis Earns Big Ten Runner of the Week Recognition

PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Senior Chelsea Loomis (Traverse City, Mich./West) of the University of Michigan women's cross country team was named Big Ten Conference Runner of the Week on Tuesday (Oct. 25) for her winning performance at the EMU Classic last Friday (Oct. 21) in Ypsilanti, Mich. It is Loomis' first weekly honor of her career and the final award of the 2005 season.

Last year, Loomis helped the Wolverines to team titles at the Big Ten Championships and NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships, finishing 29th at the Big Tens. She also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.
Loomis and the Wolverines will travel to Falcon Heights, Minn., for the Big Ten Championships on Sunday (Oct. 30). The women's race is scheduled for a 10:45 a.m. CST start, and Michigan will be seeking its fourth straight team title.
