Maloney Enters Western Michigan Athletic Hall of Fame

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan head baseball coach Rich Maloney was one of six former Broncos to be inducted into Western Michigan University's Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday (Nov. 12). The induction ceremony was held in the Fetzer Center on Western Michigan's campus in Kalamazoo.

Following his professional baseball career, Maloney returned to WMU as an assistant under legendary baseball coach Fred Decker and served four seasons (1992-95) with the Broncos.
Maloney spent seven seasons as the head coach at Ball State (1996-2002) before taking over the coaching reins at Michigan in 2003. Maloney enters his 10th season as a head coach in 2005 with a career coaching mark of 320-197-1 and has won at least 30 games in all nine seasons as head coach. Maloney won a pair of MAC championships at Ball State and was twice named MAC Coach of the Year.
Maloney, who hit .362 as a junior and .352 as a senior, was WMU's career leader in runs scored (124), ranked second in doubles (39) and was third in hits (168) and total bases (242) at the close of his Bronco career in 1986.
