Edwards Notches Track Win at Eastern Michigan Open

YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Junior/sophomore Braylon Edwards (Detroit, Mich./Bishop Gallagher HS) earned a pair of top-five finishes, including a first-place title in the 200-meter dash, to pace the University of Michigan men's track team's competitors at the Eastern Michigan Open on Saturday (Jan. 31).
Clocking a time of 21.82, just .01 second off his personal best, Edwards led the field of 18 runners in the 200 meters to collect his first collegiate win on the track (Edwards claimed two individual titles in the high jump last season). The Wolverine also turned in a fourth-place performance in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.03.
In the field events, U-M also placed a pair of competitors among the top three in their respective events as sophomore Brad Miller (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion HS) placed second in the high jump (6-6 3/4) and junior Paul Sarantos (Portage, Mich./Northern HS) claimed third in the shot put (48-2 1/2).
The Wolverines will head to South Bend, Ind., next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 6-7) for the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame.
