Team MVP Fox Adds All-America Honors to Resum

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Junior catcher Jake Fox (Greenfield, Ind./Indianapolis Cathedral), winner of the Ray Fisher Award as Michigan's Most Valuable Player for 2003, was named to Baseball America's 2003 All-America third team.

Fox, who served as a co-captain this season, hit .357 as a junior and led the Wolverines with 15 homers, 67 RBI and a .696 slugging percentage. He shared the team lead with three triples and scored 44 runs.
The 67 RBI by Fox is the third best RBI total for a Wolverine and the 15 homers ranks as the eighth best season total.
Fox has a .333 career batting average (169-for-507) for the Wolverines with 37 doubles, 28 homers and 127 RBI. He ranks ninth on Michigan's all-time home run list.
Fox was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the third round of the 2003 Major League Baseballs First-Year Player Draft (June 3). The Cubs took Fox with the 73rd pick in the draft and he was the second player selected by Chicago. He was the eighth catcher taken in the draft.
