Wolverines Gain Experience During Michigan Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team hosted the 2003 Michigan Invitational Friday through Sunday (Oct. 10-12) at the Varsity Tennis Center. The non-scoring event featured teams from Ohio State, Michigan State and Western Michigan. The Wolverines finished the three days with a 13-9 singles record and an 11-7 mark in doubles play.
Sophomore Carey Rubin (Canton, Ohio/Canton Central Catholic HS) led U-M in singles victories with a 4-0 record, while the tandem of juniors Josef Fischer (Nuernberg, Germany/Bradenton Academy) and Vinny Gossain (Okemos, Mich./Okemos HS) paced the Wolverines in doubles with a 2-0 record.
Michigan will compete at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships Oct. 23-28 in East Lansing, Mich.
