"After the past few weeks, I'm just glad he made a decision."
Webb was named Big Ten Conference Athlete of the Year for men's cross country after winning the Big Ten individual title and leading U-M to a runner-up showing Oct. 28 in Savoy, Ill. He placed 11th in the NCAA Cross Country Championships to help the Wolverines to an 11th-place team finish three weeks later in Greenville, S.C.
An Achilles injury forced Webb to sit out the 2002 indoor track season but he came back in the outdoor season to win the 1,500-meter run title at the Big Ten Championships in Madison, Wis. Webb then placed fourth in the 1,500 at the NCAA Championships in Baton Rouge, La. Webb's best time in the 1,500 meters at Michigan was a 3:41.46 at the Len Paddock Invitational on Michigan's Ferry Field track.
