The Wolverines dropped their 196.125 road score from Ohio State (Jan. 26) in the RQS equation and replaced it with tonight's score to increase U-M's RQS to 196.795.
Elise Ray (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake HS) won her fifth all-around title in the last six meets with a 39.650 that included a first-place finish on the uneven bars (9.950) and a tie for first on the balance beam (9.925). Calli Ryals (Elyria, Ohio/Midview HS), the top-ranked all-around gymnast in the nation, was fifth in the all-around (39.050).
The Wolverines (19-3, 5-0 Big Ten) took a lead after the first rotation with a season-high 49.300 on uneven bars. Michigan opened the meet with a 9.775 bars performance by sophomore Christine Mantilia (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan HS). Cami Singer (Monument, Colo./Lewis Palmer HS) continued her improvement on the uneven bars, posting a season-high 9.850. Senior Amy Kuczera (Bloomingdale, Ill./Lake Park HS) earned a 9.825 before Ryals posted her second 9.900 in the last three meets. Ray scored a 9.950 in the final spot.
The Wolverines dropped to second place behind the host Beavers after two rotations when U-M had to count a fall on the balance beam. Freshman Kara Rosella (Ann Arbor, Mich./Greenhills HS) returned to the balance beam lineup for the first time in four weeks and led off with a 9.725, just one-half of a tenth less than her season and career high. Singer had two wobbles which resulted in a 9.750. Shannon MacKenzie (Midland, Mich./Midland HS) had one near fall in her routine but still posted a mark of 9.850. Ray wrapped up the rotation with a 9.925.
Michigan righted the ship on the floor exercise, posting a 49.475, the third highest score of the season. Kallie Steffes (Naperville, Ill./Central HS), Jodie Rosenberg (West Bloomfield, Mich./West Bloomfield HS) and Ray each posted scores of 9.875. Freshman Chelsea Kroll (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny HS) earned a 9.900 in the first floor routine of her collegiate career, while Ryals closed the rotation with a team-high 9.950, good for a second-place tie.
In the final rotation U-M duplicated its score from the first rotation, posting 49.300 on the vault. Steffes and Ryals earned scores of 9.800 and 9.850, respectively, before MacKenzie and Ray posted back-to-back scores of 9.900. Kroll wrapped up the meet for the Wolverines with a 9.850 on the vault.
Michigan begins postseason competition at the Big Ten Conference Championships on Saturday (March 23) in Columbus, Ohio. The Wolverines, three-time defending conference champions, are looking for their 10th title in the last 11 years and the 11th title in the history of the program.

The Shanico Inn-vitational will be televised on FOX Sports Net Northwest on a tape-delayed basis. Judy Corwin and Todd McKim will call the action. The meet will be aired twice -- at noon on Sunday (March 17) and again at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 23.
Junior co-captain Janessa Grieco (Mahopac, N.Y./Carmel HS) did not compete after suffering a minor injury last week against Denver and Washington (March 9). Senior Melissa Peterson (Shawnee, Kan./Shawnee Mission West HS) did not compete due to an ankle injury suffered in the week prior to the Denver and Washington meet.
Chelsea Kroll competed in the floor exercise for the first time this season. An all-around gymnast, she suffered a preseason injury and only began vaulting in the meet with Georgia (Feb. 10).
The Seattle Pacific women's gymnastics team competes in NCAA Division II but faces enough Division I teams during its season to allow Michigan to count the result against the Falcons in the Wolverines' record.
