Wolverines Pick Up Pair of Early Signees from Ohio

"We're excited about Lauren and Brandi joining our program," said Michigan head women's golf coach Kathy Teichert. "They both have an enormous amount of experience and knowledge in tournaments that will help them make the transition to the next level that much easier."
Gebauer, a 2000 all-state second team selection and sectional champion, was a member of the 2000 and 2001 Ohio state championship runner-up team at Upper Arlington. As an individual at the state championships she was 12th as a senior, ninth as a junior and 39th as a sophomore. She has posted 13 career medalist honors, six as a senior and seven as a junior, and was the team captain in 2001. In addition, she was a three-time team MVP (1999, 2000, '01), all-district first team (1999, 2000, '01) and all-league first team (1999, 2000, '01).
Zielinski was an all-state first team selection in 2000, all-state second team in 2001 and two-time sectional champion (2000, '01). In 2001, she was the individual medalist at the North Canton Hoover Invitational and at the Valleywood Junior Championship. She also served as team captain and was awarded the Leadership Award. During her summer play as a member of the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), Zielinski was named the Northwest Ohio Girls Golf League (NWOGGL) Player of the Year (2000, '01), NWOGGL Sportswoman of the Year (2000, '01) and an all-city first team selection (2000, '01).
The Wolverines lose five seniors after the 2001-02 season in Stephanie Bezilla (Grandville, Mich./Grandville HS), Bess Bowers (Bloomington, Ind./North HS), Misia Lemanski (Grosse Ile, Mich./Grosse Ile HS), Cortney Reno (Grosse Ile, Mich./Grosse Ile HS) and LeAnna Wicks (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS).
