This Week
The University of Michigan women's cross country team will host six other schools at the Wolverine Interregional on Sunday (Oct. 14). Bowling Green, Montana State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Purdue and No. 14-ranked Wisconsin are the teams scheduled to compete in the meet that will cover 5,000 meters of the U-M Golf Course. The women's competition will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the men's race at 11:15 a.m. Tickets for the meet will costs $4 for adults and $2 for students and will include admission to both the men's and women's races as well as an autograph session with the Michigan runners from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. U-M students are admitted free with ID.
Last Week
Sophomore Lindsey Gallo (Freehold, N.J./Howell HS) posted the fastest time on the team for the third consecutive race as the Wolverines finished runner-up to Notre Dame on Friday evening (Oct. 5) at the 17-team Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. The Fighting Irish placed two runners in the top three overall as they finished with 58 points while Michigan was second with 104 points. Gallo, who finished eighth, covered the 5,000 meters of Burke Memorial Golf Course in 17:47. Junior Jeanne Spink (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea HS), freshman Andrea Parker (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS) and sophomore Rachel Sturtz (Traverse City, Mich./Central HS) also added top-25 finishes as the trio finished within four seconds of each other. Spink, who finished 19th, led the group with a time of 18:14, while Parker (22nd) and Sturtz (25th) posted times of 18:17 and 18:18, respectively.
Wolverine Interregional
Michigan will look to capture its fifth Wolverine Interregional title on Sunday and its first since 1998. Last year the Wolverines finished second to Washington as senior Katie Jazwinski (1997-2000) placed second in the individual competition with a time of 17:33. Washington has won the last two Wolverine Interregionals while Georgetown and Michigan claimed the other seven titles.
Going for Four
Sophomore Lindsey Gallo will look to post U-M's fastest time for the fourth consecutive time on Sunday when she competes in the Wolverine Interregional. So far this season, Gallo has paced the Wolverines in each of their first three races, including an eighth-place finish (17:47) last week at the Notre Dame Invitational (Oct. 5).

Michigan is currently unranked in the FinishLynx poll (Oct. 8). Michigan State and Wisconsin are the only two Big Ten Conference teams ranked in the latest poll, at No. 13 and No. 14, respectively.
