VICTORIA, B.C. -- Former University of Michigan men's track and field star Kevin Sullivan (Brantford, Ontario) qualified for the 2000 Sydney Olympics on Saturday (Aug. 12) during the Canadian Olympic Trials.
Sullivan, a 10-time NCAA All-American at U-M (1994-98), won the 1,500-meter run in a time of 3:46:59 to get his automatic bid for Sydney. Sullivan, who is ranked No. 1 in Canada and No. 4 in the world in the 1,500 meters, will look to medal later this summer in Australia.
(Editor's note: In the original version of this release, it was incorrectly reported that ex-Wolverine Nicole Forrester qualified for the Canadian Olympic Team in the women's high jump. She did finish second at the Trials with a height of 1.85 meters but did not meet the Olympic-qualifying standard.)
