A total of 352 student-athletes have been invited to attend the 2000 NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference. Student-athletes were nominated from NCAA member institutions that participate in the CHAMPS/Life Skills program. Haudan was selected from a total of 885 nominations.
Haudan has been elected vice president of the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) at the University of Michigan for the 2000-01 academic year, and is a member of the 2000 planning committee for the Jeff Reese Mock Rock fundraiser. Haudan also was a participant in the University of Michigan Athletic Department's Martin Luther King Jr. Presentation in January of 2000. In addition, Haudan spends several hours a week with his "Little Sib" as a Big Brother in the First Mentors program, which is a collaborative effort between Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America and First USA.
The mission of the NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference is to develop a diverse group of student-athletes who will actively participate in and experience a multitude of challenging and thought-provoking activities that will enable them to become change agents on their campuses and in their communities. It will provide NCAA student-athletes with the opportunity to discuss and explore critical issues facing their peers; to enhance their leadership skills; and to promote better communication among student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty and communities.
