The Wolverines (20-5) started their run through the championship bracket with an 8-0 victory over Indiana State University late Friday night (March 19).
In its quarterfinal win vs. Oregon, Michigan stormed to a 4-1 lead in the first inning, scoring the go-ahead run on Pam Kosanke's (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central HS) two-run double to center field. Fifth-inning hits by Traci Conrad (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way HS), Catherine Davie (Westlake Village, Calif./Westlake HS) and Kosanke produced three runs and stretched the U-M lead to 7-1. Oregon (22-7) finished the game with a two-run rally in the top of the seventh.
Kosanke, who tallied a career-tying four RBI against Duck pitcher Jennifer Cook (8-3), Davie and Melissa Taylor (Deerfield, Mich./Summerfield HS) collected two hits each as the Wolverines tallied double digits in the hit column (10) for the third straight game.
Freshman hurler Kate Eiland (Fresno, Calif./Clovis West HS) improved her record to 9-2 with her two-walk, nine-hit effort. Marie Barda (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South HS) relieved Eiland in the seventh.
Michigan won its championship bracket opener with a six-inning, 8-0 win vs. Indiana State late Friday (March 19). Barda pushed her season record to 7-1 by throwing her second career one-hitter in the complete-game win. The sophomore struck out four in her third season shutout.

Conrad, 2-for-4 at the plate, drilled a one-out triple to right field to open a four-run third-inning scoring blitz. Davie capped a 2-for-3 hitting day with a two-run single in the sixth, giving the Wolverines the eight-run rule victory. Michigan also got two-hit performances from Kelsey Kollen (Cerritos, Calif./Mater Dei HS) and Tammy Mika (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS).
