ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Senior infielder Avery Fantucci and sophomore right-handed pitcher Kat Meyers of the University of Michigan softball team were named to the 2026 Academic All-District Softball Teams, College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced Tuesday (May 26).
Recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom, the CSC Academic All-District honor is awarded to student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher through at least two semesters.
Fantucci, who graduated from Ross School of Business this spring with a business administration degree, is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. She appeared in 52 games this season, starting 36 at shortstop, and batted .253 with 23 hits, 12 runs and 14 RBI while committing just two errors in 107 total chances for a .981 fielding percentage at shortstop.
Meyers, an applied exercise science major in the School of Kinesiology, went 6-4 with a 4.48 earned-run average, 47 strikeouts and a .278 opponent average across 21 appearances and 59.1 innings pitched. She tossed the second no-hitter of her collegiate career in an 8-0, five-inning win at Liberty (March 3) and posted a pair of complete-game shutouts on the season.
First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced Tuesday, June 16. Michigan has garnered 16 Academic All-America citations in program history, most recently placing Sara Driesenga on the first team in 2016.
