Wright Falls in Round of 32 at All-American Championships

AUSTIN, Texas - University of Michigan senior men's tennis player Matt Wright (Wichita, Kan./Wichita Collegiate HS) lost in the round of 32 at the 1999 Reebok/ITA Men's All-American Championships held Friday at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin, Texas. Wright posted a 1-1 record in the main draw of the tournament after earning his spot with a 2-0 mark in the qualifier.

Wright posted a first-round three-set victory over South Carolina's Olof Akesson (4-6, 6-0, 6-0) before losing to No. 3-seeded Francisco Rodriguez of Alabama (6-4, 6-3) in the round of 32. Wright finished the All-American Championships with a 3-1 record and has compiled a 4-2 record on the season.

Wright will lead the 1999-2000 Michigan men's tennis team into its final competition of the fall season when they play in the Rolex Region IV Championships held in Madison, Wis. (Nov. 5-8).
