Wright Advances to Main Draw Singles at All-American Championships

Wright advanced with a pair of singles victories in the qualifier. The tournament's No. 3 seed, Wright beat Baylor's Csongor Bibza in the first round (6-3, 6-3) and won a close three-set match over Boise State's Wesley Moodie (6-4, 2-6, 7-5) in the second round to advance to the field of 64.
Fellow senior John Long (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron HS) played impressively at the All-American Championships. Long breezed through the pre-qualifier with four straight victories and defeated Tennessee's Mark Fitzpatrick in first round qualifer action (7-6, 6-4). He nearly beat Virginia's Huntley Montgomery in the second round to qualify for the main draw, losing two tie-breakers 7-6(6), 6-7(7), 7-6(3). Long finished the All-American Championships with a 5-1 singles record.
Sophomore Henry Beam (Kalamazoo, Mich./Loy Norrix HS) lost in the first round of qualifying after moving through the pre-qualifier with a 3-0 record. He lost in straight sets to Texas Christian's Trace Fielding (6-4, 6-1). Beam finished with a 3-1 record at the tournament.
In doubles, Matt Wright and sophomore Danny McCain (Largo, Fla./Canterbury School) posted a 1-1 record in qualifying action. The tandem won by default in the first round before suffering a straight-sets loss in the second round to Baylor's Pawel Gajdzik and Johann Jooste (6-4, 6-0).
