Michigan Suffers CCHA Loss at Ohio State
1/2/1999 12:00:00 AM | Ice Hockey
Ohio State (10-8-2, 9-4-2 CCHA) scored the game's lone goal on a power play in the third period. Chris Richards scored the winning tally at 13:51 in the third, assisted by Andre Signoretti and Hugo Boisvert.
Michigan (13-4-2, 10-2-1 CCHA) was 0-for-6 in power-play chances for the game as OSU goaltender Jeff Maund held the Wolverines scoreless for 60 minutes, including the last 0:54 when U-M pulled goalie Josh Blackburn (Choctaw, Okla.) and had six skaters.
The shutout marks the first time Michigan has been blanked this season and is the Wolverines' first league loss since Oct. 31, when they lost to Northern Michigan. Michigan had gone 6-0-1 in the CCHA since then.
The Wolverines will host Ferris State for a pair of conference games on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 8-9, in Yost Ice Arena. Game time is 7 p.m. each night.
