
Wolverines to Resume Fall Play at Bryan Bros Collegiate

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Following its first weekend off after three straight fall events, the University of Michigan men's golf team returns to action Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 28-29) at the Bryan Bros Collegiate in West Columbia, S.C. Hosted by South Carolina, the two-day, 54-hole tournament features a 15-team field at Solina Golf Club, set to play as a par-72, 6,827-yard layout.

• The Bryan Bros Collegiate features a 15-team field: Charleston, Chattanooga, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Louisville, LSU, Mercer, Michigan, North Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina, UAB, Winthrop and Wofford. In a unique event format, the field will compete in groups featuring individuals from four different teams.
• Michigan's lineup will once again be led by RJ Arone, Dean Muratore and Nilay Naik, with freshmen Spencer Shropshire and Mackey Beckett rounding out the Wolverines' starting five.
• Michigan enters the Bryan Bros Collegiate having won two of its first three tournaments this fall. The Wolverines opened with consecutive titles at the Virtues Intercollegiate and Island Resort Intercollegiate before finishing 14th at the Inverness Intercollegiate.
• U-M's back-to-back opening titles marked its first consecutive tournament victories since 2008, when it won the Wolf Run Intercollegiate and Wolverine Invitational. Michigan won the Virtues by 11 shots over host Miami (Ohio) with an 831 (-33) total and followed with a 25-shot victory at Island Resort at 823 (-41).
• Michigan swept the team and individual titles at each of its first two wins. Naik won the Virtues Intercollegiate with a career-low 201 (-15), while Arone captured his first collegiate medalist honor at Island Resort with a career-best 202 (-14).
• Naik's 201 at Virtues is tied for the third-lowest 54-hole total in program history, while Arone's 202 at Island Resort is tied for the fourth-lowest. Naik collected his third career title, while Arone earned his first career win.
• The Wolverines opened the year with six consecutive sub-par team rounds. U-M posted five rounds under 280 during that stretch, highlighted by a season-low 273 (-15) in the second round at Island Resort. Through three tournaments, Michigan owns a 282.44 team scoring average and is a combined 38-under par.
• Arone leads Michigan with a 69.89 scoring average through nine rounds, followed by Naik at 70.44 and Muratore at 71.78. Each member of the Wolverine trio has recorded six sub-par rounds and two sub-par 54-hole totals.
• Arone has paced Michigan in all three fall events, tying for third at Virtues, winning Island Resort and tying for 26th at Inverness as U-M's top finisher. Naik has two top-20 finishes, including his Virtues title, while Muratore has posted two top-10 finishes.
• Shropshire has made an immediate impact in the lineup, highlighted by a runner-up finish at Island Resort with a career-low 204 (-12). He ranks fourth among the Wolverines with a 71.89 scoring average and has posted four sub-par rounds, including a career-low 67 (-5) in the second round at Island Resort.
• Beckett has competed in all three fall events and recorded his first career top-20 finish at Island Resort, tying for 15th with a career-low 213 (-3) as an individual. He closed that event with a career-best 70 (-2) and has posted three sub-par rounds through his first nine collegiate rounds.
