Michigan Ice Hockey to Play Outdoor Game at Lambeau Field

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan ice hockey team will face Wisconsin in an outdoor game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis., as part of the Frozen Tundra Faceoff, it was announced Wednesday (Sept. 2).
The game will be played Saturday, Feb. 20, 2027, as part of Michigan's two-game Big Ten road series against the Badgers. Puck drop and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.
The Frozen Tundra Faceoff will mark the 11th outdoor game in Michigan program history. The Wolverines have played more outdoor games than any other program in college hockey. Michigan's two most recent outdoor appearances came against Ohio State -- at Wrigley Field in Chicago in 2025 and FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland in 2023.
Michigan and Wisconsin will meet outdoors for the second time. The first matchup was played Feb. 6, 2010, at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wis., with Wisconsin earning a 3-2 victory.
Michigan holds a 93-72-13 record against Wisconsin in the all-time series, which dates back to 1923. The teams split their series last season, with each team winning on the road.
Home to the NFL's Green Bay Packers, the 81,041-seat Lambeau Field opened in 1957 and last hosted hockey in 2006, when Wisconsin defeated Ohio State 4-2 in the inaugural Frozen Tundra Hockey Classic. The 2027 Frozen Tundra Faceoff will bring college hockey back to the venue for the first time in more than 20 years.
Presale tickets for the Travel Wisconsin Frozen Tundra Faceoff will be available Wednesday, Sept. 9, with the general public on-sale beginning Friday, Sept. 11. Fans can register for presale access.
