ROSEMONT, Ill. -- University of Michigan sophomore outfielder Lauren Putz was named to the All-Big Ten Conference first team, the league office announced Friday (May 8) with its postseason softball awards. Putz was one of eight unanimous selections to the first team.
Putz, who was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team a season ago, batted .446 in conference play with a .851 slugging percentage and .564 on-base percentage. She recorded 16 extra-base hits, including six homers, and posted 29 runs and 30 RBI to rank among the Big Ten leaders in every offense category.
Overall, she entered the Big Ten Tournament with a .454 batting average -- a 68-point improvement on her rookie season average -- and ranks top 15 nationally with 1.51 RBI per game, a 1.020 slugging percentage and .563 on-base percentage. She boasts 23 total home runs and 77 RBI, listing third all-time among Michigan's all-time single-season leaders -- just two homers and six RBI shy of U-M's program records, both held by Sierra Romero (2013-16).
She is the second member of her family to earn All-Big Ten honors, joining her mother Kelsey [Kollen] Putz, who was named to the first team three times -- in 1999, 2001 and 2002.
Senior first baseman Madi Ramey was named the Wolverines' Sportsmanship Award honoree.
